I'm sure that the overwhelming majority of cops are good cops but given the power they have to abuse people even a few bad apples become very dangerous. Cops should not cover for people like McGowan because it gives them all a bad name, but often they do. Kent McGowan certainly is not the most evil killer you will read about, but because he was a cop in my book that makes him one of the worst. He was a pathetic creature that was excused by his parents his whole life and even after being convicted of murder (twice) they are still excusing him. He's never once admitted he ever did anything wrong. He deserves far more than he ever got.

Kathryn Casey my be my favorite true crime writer. I love her books. This may not be her best but it is still very good and the circumstances make it a very compelling read. Definitely recommended.

Casey writes a very disturbing book about an arrogant and ruthless cop who thought he could have whatever and whoever he wanted, at any cost. And when he couldn't have Susan White, he made the decision that no one else would either.

As a police officer myself, I am disgusted by the actions of McGowen and the way he used the system to setup his murderous plan. McGowen is a cold blooded killer and Susan White deserved better.

Thank you, Kathryn Casey, for writing this book. It's a story that needed to be told.

This was a very strange story...First of all Kent should never have been on the force and i can't believe that these agencies kept hiring this total maniac, Susan white unfortunately suffered a terrible death at the hands of this crazed lunatic, The problem i have with this unfortunate story is that even after reading the book you don't know what really was going on between susan and Kent...What's frustrating is that the police knowing full well that Kent was a Bandit Cop didnt take Susans complaints seriously...My gut tells me that there wasn't anything sexually going on between them other than Kents obession with Making a bust on this family and although Susan herself was a bit off the wall I still feel this was a terrible incident that should never ever of happened, My feelings are the police department is totally responsible for this death...Author did the best job she could considering no one knew the relationship other than pure harrassment!

Kent McGowen is the poster boy for bad cops everywhere. He is one of those individuals who truly gets his thrill from the power he feels with a badge and a gun. And it was in this false sense of power mode that he obtained a warrant for Susan White, a middle age woman who had spurned him to seek a man with money (something cops DON'T usually have), and sought his revenge. Revenge that ended in her death. Sadly, White had told numerous people of the problems she was experiencing with McGowen, but no one took her seriously...if only the had.

This is a riveting tale of an abusive cop who should have never been handed a gun, much less the badge. It's hard to put down, but well worth staying up all night to read!

Katherine Casey does her usual terrific job of giving readers the details of this horrible crime, with great insight into the lives of the victim(s) and the perpetrator. Beggars belief as to how this so-called cop slipped through the cracks of Houston's law enforcement entities, time and again...

I purchased this book just to have something to read while i was on Jury Duty. The book is excellent. Unfortunately, it is a true stry which made it difficult to stomach. I was very sad for Susan White. While I refuse to believe all cops are bad like some people do, there are some bad apples like Kent McGowen that need to be dealt with. Great reading.

Any mother's vulnerable spot is her child, and any law-enforcement agency's vulnerable spot is an officer who sees his or her job as a string of heroic adventures, rather a series of often tedious, and occasionally rewarding, tasks of public service. In "Warrant to Kill," Kathryn Casey gives us an unblinking view into both. With a fine ear for dialogue and a keen sense of fairness, she presents this true-life tragedy set in an affluent suburb inhabited by people who think they've left big-city violence behind. Knowing Susan White's fate from the beginning of the book in no way lessens the net of suspense Casey weaves. Read it on a crowded plane and you won't even be aware of the kid kicking the back of your seat.

Another very interesting read by one of the best true crime authors out there, Kathryn Casey. I discovered during the course of reading it, that MacGowen is still proclaiming his innocence and has a website soliciting financial help. To say he's quite a piece of work Is the understatement of the year!

Overall, a very good read. Well thought out and very revealing in displaying the character and personality of the criminal cop.

Unbelievable! A book you won't want to put down. It's about a Bad Cop allowed to be a bad Cop and given more than enough chances to wise-up, but to no avail! It will amaze you how this Cop was kept on the job instead of protecting people, he was hurting people! Leaves you hanging at the end though.

I was rather disappointed by the book. It was hard to get into it because it was frustrating, andt all the facts were hard to believe. The victim was not a sympathetic person the way she was depicted.

Although this book is not a “who done it” book, and the reader knows the murder reality from early on, the real mystery is how to prove and convict the killer. Expect accurate character depictions as the players are wound together into a just ending.
